Collection of Short Film

1 / Wicked Witch (Rinso Advert); Rinso laundry soap; United Kingdom; 1942
This moving image is actually an advertisement for Rinso laundry soap from the Second World War, designed to encourage viewers to save fuel. Although the film is somewhat absurd and comical, it does not forget to use the stereotype of the witch as a symbol of evil and injustice.

2 / Patricia and the Witch; Ben Gardener and Phil Wall; United Kingdom; 2020
Patricia and the witch, who have an interest in magic, are two people who are not accepted by their social environment, but their common interest in magic has led to an incredibly strong friendship. And when the pair confront Patricia's mayor father, who is hunting them down and suppressing them, their friendship gives them the courage to fight back.

3 / Baba Yaga; Nicole Sitanski; America; 2021
This 3D animated short tells the story of a mother who ventures into a dark forest to make a deal with the mysterious witch Baba Yaga to save her terminally ill child. Inspired by an iconic figure from Slavic folklore, the screening of the film will add a new cultural element to the whole event.

4 / Enid + Valerie; Matthew Kennedy; United Kingdom; 2018
Valerie, a lonely young woman struggling with questions of identity and self-understanding, mysteriously switches identities and explores their respective sexualities with the seductive witch Enid in a very figurative and eerie dream world.

5 / Drawn to you; Eleanor Davitt; America; 2019
The director and writer of this animation is Eleanor Davitt. In the animation, a girl draws her imagination on paper, while her mother tears the paper in half because of the intertwined hands of the two girls in the drawing, trying to show the girl what is right. Yet the lifelike figures burst out of the paper and embark on an adventure for a reunion.

6 / Creepy Pasta Salad; Ben Gardener and Phil Wall; United Kingdom; 2020
With smooth textures and melancholic colours, the animation vividly depicts three people in a small Welsh town who are going through a series of crises. All three feel anxious, low in confidence and lonely as they deal with their problems. But as their lives intersect, unexpected connections and influences emerge, transforming each of their existences.

7 / The Soloist; Mehrnaz Abdollahinia, Razahk Issaka and Celeste Jamneck; France; 2021
This animated short film uses a seemingly witty and heartwarming story to show the harshness of women's existence. Using a small village ruled by absurd laws as the setting for the story, the film draws out the fact that, even at this moment, some people living in civilised and democratic societies are unaware that in some parts of the world the simplest of human needs, especially those of women, are still forbidden.
